Looking to Leave a Legacy?

When you choose One Challenge when planning your estate, you are sustaining our mission of advancing the kingdom of Christ for generations in nations around the world.

Thanks for visiting the One Challenge stewardship and estate planning web pages. As President of OC USA, it is my personal prayer and passion that this be a tangible ministry in your life.

We want to provide some “layman friendly” information on giving appreciated assets and estate planning that can enable you to be a wise steward of what God has entrusted you with.

Our friends at PhilanthroCorp (a Christ-centered estate planning firm) and WaterStone (a Christian giving fund and donor-advised funding foundation) will be in touch to serve you in any way they can.

Blessings to you and your family!

Legacy Giving FAQS

Why give appreciated assets?

Giving appreciated assets such as stocks, bonds, mutual funds and real estate provide double tax benefits not available when giving cash. You not only receive a charitable deduction for the fair market value of your gift, but you also avoid capital gains tax. As stewards in God’s kingdom, we should take advantage of tax incentives available to us in order to harness as much as possible for the Lord’s work and our families.

Can I give from my IRA?

Seniors who are 70 ½ years of age and older can give up to $100,000 a year directly to ministry. This can provide a tax benefit by reducing your adjusted gross income.

What is a donor advised fund (DAF)?

Donor Advised Funds (DAFs) have become the most popular charitable giving tool for donors today. In  fact, there are now more DAFs in the country than any other charitable instrument because they are one of the easiest and most tax-advantageous ways to give to ministry.

A DAF simply works like a charitable savings account. You can fund your account with many different types of assets (cash, stocks, real estate, etc.) and receive an immediate tax deduction at the time your account is funded.

Once  established, you then have the freedom to decide which ministries you’d like to give to and when. Because the assets in your DAF are invested, your account can grow over time, allowing you to give even more to the ministries you care about.

What is a charitable gift annuity (CGA)?

CGAs can be a perfect solution for seniors wanting to create a fixed income stream for life. You can receive an attractive rate based on your age at the time you make the gift, and when you go to Heaven, the remainder goes to your favorite ministries.

Can I give from my life insurance?

Life Insurance policies can be gifted during life, and you’ll receive a charitable deduction for the fair market value of the policy.

What is your will & trust ministry?

This ministry helps you design your will or trust from a biblical worldview considering that God is the owner of all and we are His stewards (Psalm 24:1). Writing your will should be a scriptural and prayerful process before it becomes a legal process. This ministry is a gift to you as our valued partner with no cost or obligation; however, you’ll need to obtain an attorney to prepare your legal documents.

Who is PhilanthroCorp?

PhilanthroCorp is a Christ-centered estate planning firm, helping thousands of families create wills and trusts that meet their goals, save taxes, and support ministries they care about. We do not sell products or insurance; we will simply study your information and develop an estate plan that will maximize your goals for family and ministry while minimizing taxes.

Who is the WaterStone Foundation?

At WaterStone, we understand the act of giving may be straightforward, but the gift of certain assets may be complex.

WaterStone is a Christian foundation that comes alongside givers, advisors and ministries to provide trusted counsel and innovative giving strategies.

What Is Faith Promise Giving?

A faith promise for missions is an expression of obedience to Christ’s command to “make disciples of all people.” Committing to a faith promise gives a new perspective on assets and priorities. We begin to see that everything we have belongs to God. We look for ways he provides, so we can give more for his cause. When we commit to give in faith, we do not rely on our limited resources, but on God’s UNLIMITED resources.
